What is Marmitek Home Automation?
Marmitek Home Automation makes your life more comfortable, saves energy and offers security, when you are at home or away.

For some people Home Automation means switching the lights On and Off with the same remote control they use for the TV; for others it's a completely automated system that can be adjusted to their lifestyle. Imagine: You are sitting on the sofa, ready for a quiet night at home with a good movie. One press of the remote control and you lower the blinds, dim the lights, set the TV to the right channel and set your home theatre with Dolby Surround.

Do you want to transform your meeting room into a futuristic presentation space? With one press on the remote control you can dim the lights, close the blinds and lower a presentation screen.

When leaving the office, you can switch everything off with one press on the button. (lights, printers, copiers, etc.).

Wishful thinking? Not with Marmitek Home Automation modules! Easier and cheaper than you think. Your installer can build the system without having to open walls.

With Marmitek MicroModules, Home Automation can be installed invisibly in your office. You can continue using existing switches.

Marmitek and wireless signals

Marmitek products use different types of signals. Most Marmitek products even use different types of signals at the same time.

Here you can find more information on:
IR - Infrared
RF - High frequency 433MHz
RF - High frequency 2.4GHz
X-10 Mains signal
X-10 Remote controls

IR - Infrared
Infrared is a light signal that is not visible to the human eye. Infrared signals are often used in (standard) remote controls. Because light cannot travel through walls and ceilings, infrared can only be used when the equipment you want to control, is within sight. To let IR remote control commands travel through walls and ceilings, Marmitek has developed products that convert the IR signal to a high-frequency (RF) signal. This signal can travel through walls and ceilings.

The infrared signal transmits coded commands to control your devices. This coding can be done with different speeds (frequencies). The standard frequency is about 40kHz. Some brands use a frequency of 455kHz (such as Bang & Olufsen). Marmitek products can process frequencies up to 100kHz.

Technical information on infrared signals:
Range free field: max. 8m.
Range through floors and walls: none.
Capacity: negligible.
Infrared wavelength: 850-950nm.
Application: remote controls for equipment within sight.

RF - high frequency 433Mhz
A high-frequency signal can travel through walls and ceilings. Marmitek uses 433MHz high-frequency signals in several situations:

1. To transport IR remote control commands through walls and ceilings. The infrared signal is converted to a 433MHz signal. When the signal arrives in the other room, it is converted back to the original IR signal.
2. For wireless control of e.g. dimmers and switches.
3. To communicate between sensors and surveillance systems (coded signal).

Technical information 433MHz high-frequency signal:
Range free field: max. 100m
Range through floors and walls: 10 - 20m
Capacity: max. 10mW
Frequency: 433.92MHz
Application: To transmit signals through floors and walls

RF - high frequency 2.4GHz
A high-frequency signal can travel through walls and ceilings. Marmitek uses 2.4GHZ high-frequency signals to transmit image and sound wirelessly. The frequency is so high that there is enough ‘space’ to send the entire image signal and the corresponding sound. There is no loss of quality as is the case with conversion to wireless signals.

Technical information 2.4GHz high-frequency signal:
Range free field: max. 100m
Range through floors and walls: 15 - 30m
Capacity: max. 10mW
Frequencies:
Channel 1: 2.411GHz
Channel 2: 2.432GHz
Channel 3: 2.453GHz
Channel 4: 2.473GHz
Application: Transmission of images and sound through walls and ceilings.

X-10 Mains signal
Marmitek X-10 signals make use of an existing network in your house: the electric mains! In the case of X-10 signals, the digital commands are transmitted via the mains. This means that you can install an extensive Home Automation system in your house without needing extra cables and wires. Click here for more information on Marmitek X-10

Range of signal via mains: between 80-200 m
Frequency: 120kHz
Application: Marmitek Home Automation

X-10 Remote controls
By using the remote controls with an X-10 button you can control all Marmitek X-10 products wirelessly. These controls use 433MHz RF signals. You will need to install a transceiver module somewhere in your house (TM13 or SC2800 surveillance system), which will convert the RF signal of the remote control to the X-10 signal that can be transmitted via the mains.

Products categories

X10 Starter kits
Everything in your house is under control. Control your lights and appliances from your most comfortable chair. Turn your lights in your house On from your front door. This is the basis for the Marmitek X-10 System. The Transceiver Module converts the signals from wireless Marmitek Controllers to the Marmitek X-10 protocol on the existing house wiring.

X10 Modules
Plug-in modules for switching and dimming lights. Plug-in modules for switching 230V appliances, halogen and fluorescent lighting On or Off. Controllable from a distance with Marmitek X-10 through the existing house wiring (On/Off).

X10 Controllers
Switch and dim modules exactly as you want: by sunrise or sunset, at programmed times or according to your own schedule. Easy to install and to use software, no PC card necessary! Stand-alone: PC can be switched off after being installed. By pushing one button you can activate compounded actions (scenario’s, sleeping, coming home, vacation, etc.).

X10 Wall switches
Wall mounted dimmers for switching and dimming lights. Provided with a soft start, soft dim and a memory for the last dim level. Can be controlled from 0% to the required dim level. Wall mounted switches for controlling motorised (230V) blinds and shutters. Can be controlled with Marmitek X-10 through the existing house wiring or by hand.

X10 Micromodules
The MicroModules are extremely small Marmitek X-10 transmitters for up to four addresses with built-in appliance modules. The Micromodules connect to momentary or maintained switches by wire leads. MicroModules use two-way X-10 communication and are designed to fit in the rear of European junction boxes, behind any installed switch or outlet.

X10 Professional
Dimmers for installation on DIN rail. Switches for installation on DIN rail. Switch loads and light circuits with dimming. Can be used for lights up to 230V and for halogen lights at low voltage. Provided with a soft start, soft dim and a memory for the last dim level. Can be controlled from 0% to the required dim level.
