Surveillance > Video amplifiers
The attenuation introduced by the cable limits its maximum length under wired cameras installations; in general, it's advisable do not exceed more than 200-300 metres of cable length, to avoid losses in the quality of Video. However, if the signal starts to attenuate it's time to insert an amplifier along the cable path. This device amplifies the signal, thus restoring the original values coming from the camera's output. It's not advisable to insert more than one amplifier along the same cable path; this to avoid the unwanted increase of electronic "noises" due to repeated amplifications.

Video amplifier (Amplifiers)
Renews the video signal attenuated by the cable length.
Applications
The attenuation of the video signal (due to the cable) limits the maximum length of cables when connecting to a wired camera. When the distance between the camera and the videosurveillance system is such to create an unwanted attenuation of the video signal (about 200-300 metres if using RG59 coaxial cable), it is necessary to use a video signal amplifier. This amplifier must be connected along the cable path, where the video signal starts lowering. The video amplifier renews the original voltage, as if it was measured at the camera output. In this manner it's possible to double the length of cabling. The amplifier has BNC input and output, and two gain controls to optimize the video amplification. The first control acts uniform on the whole spectrum of frequencies, the second one acts only on higher frequencies (more attenuated by the cable length).

Video distributor with 4 outputs (Amplifiers)
Split video signal in 4 directions without attenuations.
Applications
Video splitting and distribution is possible, using T-like BNC connectors, only when cable length is limited (only few metres). For scenarios with longer cables, the attenuation of video signal makes this procedure impractible. This video distributor has two functions: video distribution of the signal on up to 4 outputs (to broadcast to monitors or VCRs) and video amplification @ 1V peak-peak on all 4 outputs (even if the input was attenuated).
