VIDEO SURVEILLANCE > Wireless cameras

VSE has been one of the first companies in Europe to believe in wireless CCTV.
During '90s, the first prototypes of video transmitters were appearing on the market.
Since that time, VSE developed one of the widest range of wireless cameras , transmitters and receivers available.
Today, VSE continues to invest in wireless CCTV market, implementing new digital transmission technologies providing better video quality.

Wireless camera benefits
Wireless cameras need just to be connected to the mains power. No wiring is required between cameras and monitors. Compared with hardwired systems, which require all cameras to be connected by coaxial cables, wireless cameras are much easier and cheaper to install. Besides, they make possible to install CCTV systems even in historical buildings, rural houses and in all those sites where running cables would be impossible or too expensive. In order to properly install a CCTV wireless system, the rated transmission range should not be exceeded and a few basic installation rules must be followed. Read carefully our notes on wireless video transmission

 Wireless CCTV cameras

With VSE cameras you can set up a CCTV system in a few minutes without technical assistance.
There is no need to make holes in the wall to run metres of coaxial cable between cameras and monitor. The audio/video signal travels via radio, spelling savings on installation, ease of installation and enabling you to make changes to the system in the future, even in the case of a move or structural changes in the setting.
VSE systems are comprised of one or more cameras and one or more receivers.
All you need to do is connect the camera to a mains power supply and the receiver to any kind of television (or monitor), using the cable supplied.

Transmission channels. VSE cameras offer 4 transmission channels and come with a built-in switch for channel selection 1,2,3,4. It is not possible to have two cameras on the same site transmitting on the same channel.
Receiver. The video and audio signals are received by a special receiver, which is connected to a TV, monitor or video recorder. There is no other way of receiving images from the camera.
One great advantage of the VSE system, compared to hard-wired solutions, is that you can install more than one receiver on the same site, thereby creating a number of surveillance points without having to lay a single cable.
Maximum range. VSE cameras offer a line-of-sight range of 100 meters.
If you require a longer range you will need to use directional antennas which double the range. The range of VSE systems is guaranteed where there are no obstacles (line-of-sight range). The system will still function in the presence of walls or objects between receiver and transmitter, but this would lead to considerable signal loss, lowering the range.

Please note that hard-wired cameras with external trasmitters can be also used in CCTV wireless systems.

VRE-STB2E (black/white)
VRE-STC2E (color)

Camera. VRE-STB2E/VRE-STC2E cameras are VSE wireless cameras in a classic housing. They come complete with a built-in high sensitivity microphone to pick up audio in medium sized sites. The device has a built-in 4 channel transmitter with a line-of-sight range of 100 m.
Back of camera On the back of the camera there is a switch to select the transmission channel (1/2/3/4), a connector for the antenna and a jack for the power supply. The camera sends audio and video signals via radio and only requires to be hooked up to a power supply using the adaptor supplied. To receive the signal you will need a VSE receiver, which must be ordered separately. The camera can be installed indoors, using the wall-mounted bracket, or outdoors with the dedicated protective housing for wireless cameras (housings).
VSE cameras are available in black/white (VRE-STB2E) or color (VRE-STC2E).
Lenses. VSE cameras VRE-STB2E and VRE-STC2E come fitted with a universal lens which is suitable for quality filming in medium-sized sites. The standard lenses fitted are model RE-N080FS (VRE-STC2E) and RE-N036SS (VRE-STB2E), but it is also possible to order the camera without a lens and then order any of the VSE range of lenses separately (see table of lenses). VRE-STC2E camera takes all standard CS mount lenses, and model VRE-STB2E also takes all mini lenses (RE-NxxxSS).
PLEASE NOTE. It is not possible to use auto-iris lenses.

 Wireless dome cameras

With VSE DOME mini cameras you can set up a CCTV system in just few minutes without technical assistance.
There is no need to make holes in the wall for meters of coaxial cable between cameras and monitor. The Audio/Video signal travel via radio, spelling savings on installation, ease of installation and enabling you to make changes to the system in the future, even in the case of a move or structural changes in the setting.

All you need to do is connect the camera to a mains power supply and the receiver to any kind of television (or monitor).

 Wireless dome cameras

VRE-STB4DE (black/white)
VRE-STC4DE (color)

The camera just needs to be connected to a 220V mains power supply using the 220Vac/12VDC adaptor included.
Inside the elegant dome housing there is a mini camera and transmitter, which are completely invisible from the outside.
The camera in question is model VRE-STBC4E (B/W) or VRE-STCC4E (color). Despite their compact size, these mini-cams do not use the cheaper C-MOS technology, but boast high quality CCD (Samsung 1/3" in b/w and Sharp 1/4" in color), guaranteeing sharp, clear images with 380 TV lines resolution and a minimum brightness of 1.0 Lux in B/W and 1 Lux in color.
One distinctive feature of VSE mini-cams is the auto-shutter, which is controlled from 1/50th to 1/100,000th of a second, optimized for use with mini-lenses, so that it represents a genuine electronic auto-iris. For this reason, while it is impossible to use real auto-iris lenses (which are only suitable on larger cameras), VSE mini-cams perform very good both in full sunlight and in dim light.

The DOME housing
The refined dome housing is easy to install on the ceiling and from the outside of the glass dome it is impossible to see what's inside. The result is a modern look which blends into any kind of decor, even prestigious settings. The fact that it is impossible to see the direction of the camera inside the dome also means that it is impossible for anyone to identify blind spots that the camera does not cover.
The dome housing not only protects the camera from dust but also prevents tampering. This makes dome mini-cams a valid solution anywhere; 'cause a camera is at risk of being tampered with to change the position, eg. in public places.
The housing has three sections: a base which is fixed to the wall, a transparent dome and an internal concealment sleeve. The external diameter is 132 mm, height 89 mm.
The camera power cable comes out of the base of the housing, which is raised to allow storage of any spare length of cable.

The transmitter
Dome VSE cameras come with a built-in video transmitter. The transmitter has a line-of-sight range of 100 m and 4 transmission channels. This means that the receiver must be located within 100 meters of the camera (much closer in the event of obstacles) and that no more than 4 cameras can be installed on the same site.
Should you require a longer range you will need to use a directional antenna.
Please note that hard-wired cameras might be associated to external transmitters, in order to become wireless cameras.

Maximum range
The range of VSE systems is guaranteed where there are no obstacles (line-of-sight range). The presence of walls or objects between receiver and transmitter means a considerable reduction of the signal, and the range that can therefore be relied on.
It is essential to use VSE cameras within the limits of their range, respecting the installation instructions in order to obtain a level of image quality comparable to that of a hard-wired camera.

Lenses
Dome VSE cameras are equipped with universal 3.6 mm wide-angle lenses like RE-N036SS. It is also possible to order the camera without a lens and then order any of the VSE mini lenses separately (pls. see table of lenses).

 Product includes

  • Camera with/without lens in dome housing
  • Transmitter
  • Antenna
