Tiny video recorder with high performance

VDK-SPV500E is small enough to fit into a cigarette packet. Small size 80x52x22 mm³ and 91 grams weight, make this DVR a genuine pocket video recorder. It can be carried in a pocket or hidden inside any object. The model with hard disk offers huge recording capacity (over 120 hours), also in pocket format (130x80x23 mm³ and 256 g).

High video resolution 1280x960 pixel

Small size but high performance, VDK-SPV500E/1000E record high resolution video and audio with MPEG4 DivX compression.
The max. resolution is 1280x960 pixel @ 25 frames per seconds. The video can be played full screen even on big LCD monitors without quality loss.
1280x960 pixel @ 25 f/sec is a superior quality standard, even better than most tabletop DVRs on the market, and make these units the most powerful portable recording devices available today.

Superb audio quality

VDK series DVR's record high quality audio. Any sound in the room is clearly recorded and is perfectly synchronized with the video. No background noise and no distortion make the words perfectly understandable.

Recording on SD card or HDD

The media used for recording are common SD cards, widely used in digital cameras.
They are small, secure memory units which are vibration resistant and are currently available with a capacity of up to 32 GB (over 32 hours recording).
The DVR can manage any kind of SDHC card up to 32 GB (over 32 hours recording).
The VDK-SPV1000E also comes with a 1.8” 120 GB hard disk, which can save over 120 hours of continuous recording.
A 4GB SD card is supplied with the VDK-SPV500E, while the VDK-SPV1000E is supplied without SD card (that must be purchased separately if required).

Powered by lithium batteries

VDK-SPV500E/1000E video recorders come with a lithium battery that make them completely independent. An AC/DC power adaptor is supplied for recharging or using mains power.
If VRE-STCN9XHE/ CHE/ BHE cameras are used, the battery of the video recorder will also powers the camera.
Model VDK-SPV500E has around 200 minutes battery life time (including camera). Model VDK-SPV1000E, 180 minutes battery life time.
The video recorders can also function on mains power for continuous surveillance, using the internal batteries purely as a back-up in the event of a power failure.
The VDK-SPV500E has a built-in battery that cannot be replaced. Once the battery is exhausted the DVR must be recharged. In the VDK-SPV1000E the battery is placed inside a battery slot and can be replaced with another one, if exhausted. The VDK-SPV1000E comes with 2 batteries. If necessary you can order more batteries separately (Ref. VDK-SB2E).
A separate accessory (Ref. VDK-SBCE) is available if you wish to be able to recharge the battery without inserting the battery in the DVR.

Long-life battery pack

For the VDK-SPV1000E, a long-life battery pack, VDK-SPV800BPE, is available. This accessory consists of a high power battery (15.6 Ah) in a special case suitable to be attached to the DVR backside. This battery can power up the DVR and its camera for about 12 hours while the standard battery only allows 3 hours. VDK-SPV800BPE is ideal if you wish to leave the DVR on a site and pick it up at the end of the day. The battery pack recharges completely connecting the DVR to the mains for about 10 hours. On the product side there are 4 LED's indicating battery charge status. A vibrating alert can be set in order to warn the user when battery life-time drops below 30 minutes.

Scheduled recording and motion detection

The following types of recording can be programmed:

• Manual recording - Easy to control without looking at the video recorder, just by placing your hand in your pocket.
• Programmed recording - Automatic start up and recording at pre-set dates and times.
• Motion Detection - Automatic start up only in the event of intrusion.
• Pre-Event recording - The VDK-SPV1000E includes the pre-event recording function and automatically record 30 seconds before the REC button is pressed. This function has been developed for police or guards in order not to miss any important scene to be used as an evidence.
• Automatic overwrite - This option allows continuous recording. Older images are automatically overwritten once the memory is full.

TFT Monitor and USB Port for connecting to PC

The video recorders come with a 2.4" (VDK-SPV500E) or 3.5" (VDK-SPV1000E) TFT screen for real time viewing and playback of recorded images. Using the USB cable supplied you can connect the device to your PC, which will immediately recognize it as an external hard drive. You can search through the videos and play them using Windows Media Player. You can also copy the files to your PC Hard drive for off-line playing, processing or burning on CD. Videos are saved in ASF format with DivX compression in order to reduce the file size, but also to ensure they can be viewed with any type of player and modified with video editing software.
The devices also feature an AV output for connecting to an external monitor or TV.

Infrared remote control

In addition to the operational commands, the device comes standard with an infrared remote control.

Hard-wired remote control

VDK-SPV500E and VDK-SPV1000E video recorders come with a cable remote control (around 1 m), for turning the DVR On and Off and to start / stop recording. This means the video recorder can be placed inside a bag or an object and controlled from the outside, if necessary.

The camera

VDK-SPV500E and VDK-SPV1000E video recorders really come into their own when paired with high resolution hidden cameras VRE-STCN9XHE/ SHE/ CHE specifically designed for concealed use. The camera minijack fits into the video recorder and the camera is powered directly by the internal battery of the video-recorder (5VDC).
The combination of camera and video-recorder create a totally independent filming and recording device which is compact enough to fit into a small object and be hidden in a pocket. The camera comes with a lens that can be camouflaged, both when installed in position or worn.
The video recorder can also be used with other generic cameras, both hidden and traditional cams, using the adaptor cable supplied.
Only model VDK-SPV1000E also has an 12VDC power output able to power any kind of camera (max. 250 mA).

Password control

VDK-SPV500E/1000E include password protections for using the DVR and connecting to PC via the USB port. This function allows to avoid unauthorized people to enter the DVR and downloading/deleting video files.
